INGAA Foundation

The INGAA Foundation helps prepare its members to meet the challenges of a growing worldwide market for natural gas.

The INGAA Foundation, Inc. was formed in 1990 by the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) to advance the use of natural gas for the benefit of the environment and the consuming public. The Foundation works to facilitate the efficient construction and safe, reliable operation of the North American natural gas pipeline system, and promotes natural gas infrastructure development worldwide.

INGAA Foundation Membership
Membership in the INGAA Foundation is open to natural gas pipelines and companies that provide goods and services to pipelines worldwide. Today, the INGAA Foundation has more than 120 member companies representing natural gas pipeline companies, construction companies, engineering firms, pipe and compressor manufacturers, accounting firms, companies providing information technology services and other suppliers of goods and services to the pipeline industry.

INGAA Foundation Studies
The Foundation's primary activity is to sponsor research aimed at promoting natural gas use and safe, efficient pipeline construction and operation. Since 1990, the Foundation has completed over 60 studies and projects. These projects focus on key industry issues such as environmental impacts of energy use, improved pipeline construction practices, pipeline safety procedures, new technologies and market opportunities for natural gas.

The Foundation also sponsors briefings and conferences on topics of special interest to its members. These conferences promote information exchange and foster communication among pipelines, contractors, service providers, and representatives from government agencies and academic institutions.

The Foundation provides the ideal environment for companies involved in the energy business to gain insights on the fast-changing natural gas industry.

Foundation Mission and Objectives
We facilitate the efficient, cost-effective and environmentally responsible construction of new natural gas pipelines and the safe and reliable operation of the North American natural gas pipeline system in order to advance the delivery of natural gas for the benefit of the consuming public, the economy, and the environment.

The Mission is further interpreted and appropriate activities for the INGAA Foundation are defined by a set of objectives that the Foundation will pursue:

  • Identify and work to remove impediments to the construction and operation of natural gas pipelines.
  • Influence legislation and regulation on issues of importance to the natural gas pipeline industry by providing analysis in support of the industry's advocacy.
  • Provide opportunities for Foundation members to become better-informed advocates for the natural gas pipeline industry.
  • Enhance cooperation in fulfilling the Foundation's mission by facilitating communication among Foundation members.
  • Enhance the public's perception of natural gas pipelines as a safe, reliable and environmentally preferred form of energy transportation.
  • Analyze and disseminate information about the natural gas supply, demand, and utilization trends in North America and abroad that may affect demand for natural gas infrastructure and the ability to provide materials and services for pipeline construction, operation, and maintenance.
