INGAA Highlights Importance of Natural Gas in Americas Energy Future Ahead of State of the Union

Ahead of tonight’s State of the Union Address, Alex Oehler, interim president and chief executive officer of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America, commented on the importance of natural gas in America’s energy future:

Natural gas infrastructure plays a critical role in transitioning to a lower carbon economy domestically and globally. Today and tomorrow, natural gas will continue to provide countless benefits to our environment and the economy.

These benefits are made possible by the continued safe operations of our nation’s natural gas infrastructure systems. Last year, we witnessed the finalization of the PHMSA gas pipeline transmission safety rule, which embraces new pipeline safety technologies and engineering practices and constitutes the most significant enhancement in safety regulations for our industry in the last 50 years.

INGAA will continue to work with policymakers and stakeholders to implement policies that prioritize the transportation of natural gas in a safe, reliable and environmentally responsible manner.”
