The INGAA Foundation's Government and Public Affairs Task Force developed the document: "Why an Interstate Natural Gas Pipeline?" as a basic communication document to explain, to the interested public, some important points regarding natural gas and why a pipeline might be proposed or constructed in an area. The document provides basic background information on: the benefits of natural gas; pipelines as a safe transportation mode and essential part of the US economy; growing domestic supplies which are creating the need for more transportation; and some of the environmental and safety responsibilities of the regulated transportation companies as well as their commitment to landowners. The document is intended to be used as a handout at open houses or other events where interstate natural gas pipeline projects are being discussed.
