INGAA’s Letter of Support for the Pipeline Safety

Dear Chairman Mica and Chairman Upton:

I am writing on behalf of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) to express support for passage of H.R. 2845, the “Pipeline Safety, Regulatory Certainty, and Job Creation Act of 2011,” as amended. INGAA represents the interstate natural gas transmission pipeline industry in the United States.

This legislation will make significant strides in improving the safety of the nation’s natural gas and hazardous liquid pipelines. Key provisions include expansion of the pipeline integrity management program, enhancements to national damage prevention efforts, requirements to ensure the safe operating pressure of all natural gas transmission pipelines, and a renewed pipeline safety research and development program.

H.R. 2845 was developed through the hard work and cooperation of a bipartisan group of members and staff from both the House and the Senate. Their commitment to producing a comprehensive pipeline safety bill has been nothing short of outstanding. We thank the authors of H.R. 2845, and urge the adoption of this bill that represents the collective expertise of the jurisdictional committees in the House and Senate.

Respectfully,

Donald F. Santa
